Our founder and president, Professor Mike Caslin, was a 2020 Fulbright US Scholar at Letterkenny Institute of Technology in Ireland, and was recently awarded another gift from the prestigious Fulbright Foundation. The Fulbright Program is an international academic exchange program founded in 1946 to foster understanding between nations, funded through the U.S. State department and other public and private sources.
Fulbright Ireland recently conducted an Ireland-wide Fulbright Fellow Program Concept Competition, and has awarded GCSEN a pilot grant to fund GCSEN Ireland’s work with YouthReach Ballymun, with a focus on empowering three early school leavers and their families to launch family owned social ventures in communities of need.
This will be the third year that GCSEN has worked with YouthReach under the legendary teacher and program manager of GCSEN Ireland, John Coughlan.

Prof. Caslin and his wife, Dr. Irene Lavado-Caslin, attended the Fulbright 80 Alumni Event on Thursday, 15 October 2026 in Dublin, Ireland, and had a great time networking with other Fulbright scholars, and learning about the other powerful programs and scholars that received funding, as well as the history of this ground-breaking international organization.
